Hailing frequencies open, Captain…
Inner space… the final frontier. These are the voyages of the reader, the planesjumper, to explore strange new worlds. To seek out vibrant life within the pages of books. To boldly open the doors to imagination.
Ok.. cheesy, I know… I’ve been wanting to create Star Trek book tags for a long time, and here is my first, focusing on the original show. Enjoy!
The Rules
– Answer the questions.
– Link back to Port Jericho plz!!
– Tag 3-5 others to be your Bridge Crew!
Kirk- This Captain doesn’t believe in no-win scenarios. Name a character who likes to play fast & loose with the rules, but whose heart is in the right place
Derek Areios has a good heart. He’s a war scion, a child of Ares’ lineage, but he has a different set of morals altogether from most other war scions.
Spock- Spock is half Vulcan and half human, and off pulled between the two. Name a character torn between two worlds.
Reigh is a human living in grey elf lands. Not only can culture be an internal (or external) conflict point, Reigh has a shadow self called Noh who causes inner conflict as well.
McCoy- The good Doctor serves to balance Spock’s logic. Name a character who’s a gruff yet loyal voice of conscience
Bagheera is Mowgli’s guardian. He wants the best for the young boy, but he is a cat, and a leopard at that, a solitary species.
Uhura- Proficient in language, she handles the communications station. Name a book that focuses on communication
Literally… Non-Violent Communication discusses a new way of communicating to defuse aggressive language and foster empathy.
Scotty- The phrase ‘Beam me up, Scotty’ was never actually used in the show. What’s a book line that is oft misquoted?
Elementary, dear Watson from Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories.
Sulu- Actor George Takei is gay, and this influenced the newest incarnation of Sulu. Who’s your favourite LGBTQ character?
Javid was born female, but identifies as male. This windship pilot is too precious for words!
Chekov- The Russian navigator likes to attribute everything as having been invented in Russia. Name a book whose culture you love.
Genghis Khan and the Mongol culture of his era fascinate me.
Khan- One of Kirk and co’s most deadly adversaries, Khan and his fellow ‘supermen’ were genetically created to be peacekeepers in a war-torn world. Name a character who is utterly ruthless.
Well…uh…Khan himself
Christopher Pike- In the initial pilot, it was Pike and not Kirk who captained the Enterprise. (And through all of Star Trek’s iterations, Pike himself has changed numerous times.) Name a book series who’s lead character changed.
Gary Seven- This future-past secret agent works behind the scenes to keep Earth safe. Name a character who is a protector in the shadows
Snape might not have liked Harry much but for love of Lily, he did protect him.
Trelane- The ‘Squire of Gothos’ is very likely our first introduction to the omnipotent, god-like Q Continuum, and he’s as much a trickster as Q later is. Who’s your favourite trickster character?
Loki! In any incarnation. I Bring the Fire is a fave tho!
