This is a weekly meme created by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer, to show off favourite characters. Be sure to check out their blog! This week’s topic is … a character you are thankful for, whatever the reason.
Kalla kyl’Solidor (because of my alchemic journey). Kalla is the main character of my own book, Evalyce: Worldshaper. She is a mage of Cryshal Kanlon, a Healer to be exact. Like all of the other major characters from that story, she had lessons to teach me. Lessons about remaining true to myself, and that we are all Divinity. Kalla had to find her true self, and accept it. In doing so, she helped me find mine.
Writing Worldshaper was very much an alchemic journey for me. It changed me, or perhaps I was already changing, and needed to write to make it stick, to make it more real. I’m very thankful I found my way to De Sikkari, and thankful for all those I met there, who helped me grow and learn.
Here is part of a poem I wrote about the experience writing Worldshaper-
My own creation has been my Crucible, revealing me to myself.
What have I learned?
From Kalla- be true to oneself and one’s beliefs
and to never back down from those things.
From Vander- that where society and culture have crafted an omega,
the proper nurturing can reveal the alpha hidden within.
Embrace one’s birthright.
From Grosso- forgiveness heals, but one must first forgive themselves.
From Kasai- fair justice is essential; vengeance serves no purpose.
From Warryn- knowledge is important, never forsake it.
And whatever you do, have fun in life.
From Hauss- healing is a gift and a discipline; make the most of it.
From Araun- sometimes what one fears the most need not be feared at all.
Use your fear to push beyond the bounds of comfort.
From Al’dhumarna- we shape our own worst nightmares
and so, we hold the key to their banishment.
Wow, That’s some good lessons to learn;even cooler when you get them upon writing !
Yep!
Awwww I always find it so brave and wonderful when blogger writers share their work Aislynn! It’s a tough thing to do and I can feel your passion come through. And I didn’t expect a poem but what a perfect way to express how you feel. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!
Haha, poems can sometimes be the best way to express yourself.
I love the “use your fer to push beyond the bounds of comfort”. So true!
Thank you!
