March 2020 (fun vids!)

Well, the month started out awesomely, what with the Star Trek cruise and all. And while it was a fun experience, the growing threat of pandemic lent an aura of melancholy to the mix. Things were more subdued than last year, and many of the panels and events weren’t as full. Within mere hours of boarding and setting sail, we were all well-trained little Pavlov dogs when presented with sanitizing stations, and those were everywhere! Our ports of stop included Puerto Rico, Virgin Isles, and Grand Bahama.

I’d hoped to meet Anson Mount, but ended up switching and getting an autograph from Mary Chieffo (L’Rell, Star Trek: Discovery). She has greatly influenced a character in a story I’m working on and I worked up the nerve to tell her so (in front of a crowd, while she was L’Rell). That took a great deal of courage for my shy ass. I got another Q autograph, and also got a nonfction book signed by one of the current science consultants.

Here: enjoy a bit of Spock and Q debating, the wait staff at Johnny Rocket’s impromptu dancing, John de Lancie’s Dover Trial play, and improv with Mary Chieffo.

Returning brought us right into quarantine, and we’ve been trapped at home ever since. I’m furloughed, and temporarily on unemployment. I’m bored at, and want to go back to work, but we are likely to remain furloughed for the next two months. It’s been an interesting experience overall. Quite surreal, as I’m sure a great many of you can relate to. I’ve been binging true crime and crime drama shows, reading, and working on art projects.

  1. Happy to hear you had a great trip nonetheless and that it wasn’t cancelled!
We were supposed to go to a show of a rocker that my dad loves and that I grew up with in June (also my first “real” concert) but sadly… will all happening we probably won’t be able to get there 😔 Kinda annoyed as it’s the first time he’s coming over here – and I was SO EXCITED, it had been so long since I was looking forward to something … but anyway. things happens I guess..

Also yay for a good reading month!!
Ohh awesome to hear that you enjoyed the woman in Cabin 10 – I have it sitting on my shelves waiting for me to read it ahah
