Nazafareen, The Fourth Element & The Fourth Talisman series

Nazafareen was a Water Dog, an elite soldier bonded to a daeva named Darius. The humans call the daeva ‘demons’ and use special cuffs to bind their elemental magic, so its use is controlled by the human of the Water Dog pair. Nazafareen learns to trust Darius, seeing him not as a ‘demon’, but as a person in his own right. Servitude becomes friendship. Friendship becomes something more.

When Nazafareen and Darius return to Darius’ home, the cuffs cease to be as much a confinement, the magic nullified under certain circumstances. Nazafareen gets to explore her own unique type of magic. Unfortunately, war finds the pair again, ushering in a terrifying new enemy.

Nazafareen may occasionally be impulsive, and is often headstrong. She’s loyal to those she considers worthy. Thanks to her unique magic, the huo mofa, she’s got a bit of a temper, and within that, she’s got a cruel streak. She turns these traits to positive use, as a protector, but they also make her ruthless, relentless, and vengeful.
