Fires of Necessity

This is a weekly meme created by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer, to show off favourite characters. Be sure to check out their blog! This week’s topic is  – Character Who’d Run into a Fire to _____ (Fill in the blank! The sky is the limit… if they’d run into a fire for any reason then they’re who you want to showcase!)

I chose Watson and Sherlock. I’m considering all incarnations of the duo. They really are devoted to one another, in their own way. When one is in danger, the other is willing to do just about anything for the other. I’m even counting House and Wilson here, even though House is far more cynical and antisocial that most incarnations of Sherlock. More than any other example, House and Wilson have a very unbalanced partnership, with broken synergy. This leaves Wilson, as Companion, as a person who needs to be needed, to the point he’s an enabler, and House… He may be a Lone Wolf (Shadow Hermit), but deep down he, like Sherlock, needs that one other, a person to keep him grounded to reality, not lost in the puzzle.

And I chose Khan Noonien Singh (classic and Kelvin timelines). He may be a genetically engineered supersoldier turned tyrant, but he’s devoted to his crew, his bondfamily, so to speak. He’s willing to do whatever it takes to secure their safety, and brutal enough to follow through.

    1. Khan is quite devoted to crew. I wouldn’t mind being part of that family… Always feel safe. Or having a friend like Watson!

  1. Well Watson and Sherlock is a brilliant choice! I love brotherhood stories. The ones when they have each other’s back and would go through fire to save each other!
